Rezension by Fenria Streetteam Berlin

Where there is light, there is shadow. Where there is shadow, there is darkness. But even the greatest darkness cannot exist without light. And so the circle closes. After five long years of waiting, Kamelot are back with their thirteenth album and starting exactly where they always were and still are. Namely in an unmistakable album that combines symphonic and power metal in an unprecedented form. Since Kamelot saw the light of day in 1991, but at the latest with their works, The Fourth Legacy, The Black Halo, Silverthorn, Haven or The Shadow Theory, released in 2018, the five-piece from the USA has always gone one step further. If you've been dedicated to the darkness for a long time, the new work, The Awakening, once again puts this topic in the foreground. But as already mentioned, one cannot do without the other, and so The Awakening tells of determination, strength, change and the opposing realization that no matter how hard we try, we do not have enough time to achieve all the goals we have set for ourselves to reach. Musically, the new work adapts like a sequel to the works that have already been published. Although they experiment as usual here and there and The Awakening produces what is probably the heaviest material in the band's history so far, they always remain true to themselves and their unmistakable sound. Not only does the worthy fan and critic get their money's worth, but new listeners can also quickly find access to the complete sound of the formation with the new material. The album contains thirteen powerful yet emotionally recorded songs, each of which stands for itself. Critics and fans of the band are already enthusiastic and are already calling The Awakening one of the big highlights of 2023. They have proven that Kamelot can also more than convince live in many years and at countless concert appearances worldwide and will certainly do so The Awakening on the boards that mean the world then celebrate his successes. We give a one hundred percent purchase recommendation and only the statement, "We wish you a lot of listening pleasure".
