Rezension by Fenria Streetteam Berlin

You could almost say old Swede, but since these are four gentlemen from Good Old Germany, I'll just say old Germane... What kind of board did the Schattis fabricate there. Were they already with the release of their debut, lights on! Lights out!, further away from the original New German Hardness Metier and called their musical direction themselves, jokingly, NDH 2.0, so this style developed more and more from album to album. Now the new work appears and Schattenmann present with, Dia de Muertos, probably their hardest album so far. The now fourth album is a real slap in the face. As already mentioned, the band from Nuremberg has created its own style of new German hardness, paired with party-heavy, sometimes even Ballermann-influenced rhythms, without forgetting the right portion of heaviness. In addition, there are the consistently critical texts by Frank Herzig and Nils Kinzig, which not only address the prevailing problems of our time, but also hit them spot on. So you grab topics like bullying, stalking, politics, law and injustice, as well as topics of normal madness and life. Once again, stories are told that affect us all and even burden one or the other. And yet the shadow men always find their way out of the shadows into the light and, with their charming optimism, exude enough power to be able to walk the road to recovery. For example, a life-affirming song like Dia de Muertos comes along as an opener and calls for living life and not wasting time. At the end you see each other again on the other side of the bank and you know it's good the way it is. Elsewhere it is explained how the madness around us, controlled by the media and propaganda, makes it clear that everyone and everything is bad and that the only way out is to hate people. Is that really the case? A topic to be discussed, which Schattenmann puts into the room very meaningfully and musically damn cracking. From this situation one finally sings, hands up, and asks not to take everything to heart and not to put everything on the gold scales and rather to make gold out of shit and celebrate life. It's better to die laughing than die bored, that's the message. Frank sings about his own demons and later encourages you to just forget everything and go crazy positively and dance in the sea of light. Even envious and haters get their fat and stalkers are put against the wall and their actions condemned. However, as already mentioned, Schattenmann often lift the admonishing finger, but they never forget that longing, love and joy also determine our lives, even if there are always people in whose shadow one cannot develop oneself. But stepping out of the dark into the light is always possible. And so, dear readers, remember nothing lasts forever. Every problem will pass. So let's dance, enjoy life and celebrate this new album to the fullest. We give 10 out of a possible 10 points… although Dia de Muertos easily deserves 11, 12 or even 13 points.
