Die Deutschrock-Band Eizbrand, die 2013 in Nordrhein-Westfalen gegründet wurde, schmeißt heute ihr drittes Album auf den Markt: Verbrennungen 3. Grades. Geboten wird ein Mix zwischen Punk und Rock gepaart mit deutschen Texten, die von alltäglichen Situationen, Erfahrungen des Lebens und der kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Gesellschaft handeln.
Das Intro des Albums Verbrennungen 3. Grades beginnt mit einer düsteren Melodie, in die Trommeln, Synth-Klänge und Wooh-Ooh Vocals einstimmen. Nach einem kurzen Break steigert sich dies noch, um dann mit einsetzenden Gitarren direkt in den Titelsong Verbrennungen 3. Grades überzugehen. Der Track überzeugt mit kraftvollen Riffs und einer eingängigen Hook. Textlich befasst er sich mit dem 10-jährigen Jubiläum der Band und den Hürden, die es auf dem Weg dahin zu überwinden galt. Es schließt sich Ich renne los an - ein fetzig punkiger Rock Song, der davon handelt, sich mit seinen Entscheidungen auch mal zu verrennen. Energiegeladen geht es mit Ehrlich währt am längsten weiter. In den Strophen, die Sänger Ruwen dem Hörer fast schon entgegen schreit, wird die Gesellschaft kritisiert - egal ob Luxusleben oder Existenzminimum, wichtig ist, dass man sich nicht verstellt und man zu sich selbst ehrlich ist. Mit Feuer setzen Eizbrand die Welt in Brand. Und das nicht nur mit den infernalen Riffs und der Variation von Sänger Ruwens Stimme (verrückt angehaucht in den Strophen und melodisch im Refrain), sondern auch textlich. Es geht um Zwiespalt und Krisen in der Gesellschaft und der Welt - “Und es brennt, brennt, alles steht in Flammen, nur ein bisschen Klebstoff hält die Scherben noch zusammen.” - ein Weltenbrand. Dieses schöne Land gibt ein wenig JBO Vibes: Es stellen sich unterschiedliche Charaktere vor, die sich und ihr Leben bestmöglich darstellen. Das ist natürlich mit einem Augenzwinkern zu nehmen, denn “das Leben in diesem schönen Land” ist nicht immer so toll und entspannt, wie es dem Gegenüber oder in Social Media dargestellt wird. Und wenn es schon mal scheiße läuft, kann man auch einfach alles hinschmeißen und das Leben genießen, denn “Irgendwo auf der Welt ist schon lange 16 Uhr”. Mit dem Song versprühen Eizbrand eine ordentliche Portion Lebensfreude. Man sollte sich öfter einfach mal um sich selbst kümmern und Dinge machen, die einem gut tun. Mit Irgendwo auf der Welt hätte man dabei auch gleich den richtigen Soundtrack.
Sommerregen ist eine Ballade, die mit anfänglichen Piano-Klängen und emotionalem Gesang daherkommt. Es geht um Verlust und die Akzeptanz, dass wir alle mal gehen müssen. Doch noch ist es nicht so weit, also sollte man sich an den schönen Dingen im Leben erfreuen. Schön ist auch, Wenn aus Freundschaft Liebe wird. Meist kommt es überraschend, aber wem ist das noch nicht passiert? Man kennt einen Menschen so gut und plötzlich ist da mehr als nur Freundschaft. Ob das immer so eine gute Entscheidung ist, das sei mal dahingestellt…
Der nächste Track, Wir bleiben, beginnt mit Synthie-Klängen, die schnell durch starke Gitarrenriffs und Drums ergänzt werden. Inhaltlich geht es um Kritik an der Regierung, die leider auf taube Ohren stößt: “Wir machen nur das, was uns gefällt, ganz egal was andre sagen und man von uns hält.” Mit Wir sind laut wird rebelliert - gegen das Schubladendenken der Menschen, gegen bestehende Regeln, gegen das System. Anker besticht nebst bereits bekannten aber nicht weniger ohrwurmigen Wooh-Ooh Vocals und eingängiger Melodie, die zum Tanzen und Feiern einlädt. Der Song soll als Anker dienen, wenn schlechte Gedanken aufkommen und man von den eigenen Gefühlen überwältigt wird. Egal wohin ist eine Hommage an einen Fußballverein und steht für die Leidenschaft der Fans (zum Teil über Generationen hinweg), die ihren Verein in jeder Lebenslage unterstützen. Der letzte Track auf dem Album, #ohneeuchkeinwir, ist der Dank der Band an ihre eigenen Fans, die sie in jeder kleinen Stadt, egal bei welchem Wetter, aufsuchen und mit ihnen feiern. Der Song spiegelt die Fannähe von Eizbrand wider und ist ein schöner Abschluss der neuen Scheibe.
Insgesamt ist Verbrennungen 3. Grades eine runde Sache und Eizbrand bleiben ihrem bisherigen Tun treu. Das Album ist energiegeladen und macht Spaß beim Hören. Also kommt und spürt die Hitze! The German rock band Eizbrand, which was founded in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2013, is launching its third album today: 3rd Degree Burns. A mix of punk and rock is offered, paired with German texts that deal with everyday situations, life experiences and critical engagement with society.
The intro of the album Third Degree Burns begins with a dark melody, with drums, synth sounds and wooh-ooh vocals. After a short break, this increases and then the guitars start to lead straight into the title song, Third Degree Burns. The track impresses with powerful riffs and a catchy hook. Lyrically, it deals with the band's 10th anniversary and the hurdles that had to be overcome on the way there. It follows I'll run away - a groovy punk rock song that's about getting lost with your decisions. Energized, Ehrlich lasts the longest. In the verses that singer Ruwen almost shouts at the listener, society is criticized - regardless of whether it is a luxury life or a subsistence level, it is important that you don't pretend and that you are honest with yourself. Eggbrands set the world on fire with fire. And not just with the infernal riffs and the variation of singer Ruwen's voice (crazy in the verses and melodic in the chorus), but also lyrically. It's about conflict and crises in society and the world - "And it burns, burns, everything is on fire, only a little glue is holding the pieces together." - a world conflagration. This beautiful country gives a little JBO vibes: different characters are introduced who portray themselves and their lives in the best possible way. Of course, this should be taken with a wink, because “life in this beautiful country” is not always as great and relaxed as it is portrayed to the other person or on social media. And if things are going to shit, you can just drop everything and enjoy life, because “Somewhere in the world it’s been a long time since 4 p.m.” With the song, Eizbrand exude a good dose of joie de vivre. You should just take care of yourself more often and do things that are good for you. With Somewhere in the World you would have the right soundtrack.
Sommerregen is a ballad that comes with initial piano sounds and emotional vocals. It's about loss and the acceptance that we all have to go. But it's not that far yet, so you should enjoy the beautiful things in life. It's also nice when friendship turns into love. It usually comes as a surprise, but who hasn't it happened to anyone? You know a person so well and suddenly there is more than just friendship. Whether that's always a good decision remains to be seen...
The next track, We Stay, begins with synth sounds that are quickly complemented by strong guitar riffs and drums. The content is about criticism of the government, which unfortunately falls on deaf ears: “We only do what we like, no matter what others say and what people think of us.” With We Are Loud we rebel - against people's pigeonholing, against existing rules, against the system. Anker impresses with its well-known but no less catchy wooh-ooh vocals and catchy melody that invites you to dance and celebrate. The song is intended to serve as an anchor when bad thoughts arise and you are overwhelmed by your own feelings. No Matter Where is a homage to a football club and represents the passion of the fans (some across generations) who support their club in every situation. The last track on the album, #ohneuchkeinwir, is the band's thanks to their own fans, who come to see them in every small town, no matter what the weather, and celebrate with them. The song reflects Eizbrand's closeness to fans and is a nice conclusion to the new record.
Overall, 3rd degree burns is a well-rounded affair and Eizbrand remain true to their previous actions. The album is energetic and fun to listen to. So come and feel the heat!
