Heavy Temple, ist eine im Jahr 2012, und hier in einer mit schwerer Heavy Metal getränkten Nacht, gegründete Formation, als Trio, aus Philadelphia. Ihr Sound erinnert schwer an die Anfänge von Black Sabbath und Co. Nach zwei EPs und mehreren Singles veröffentlichte man sehr erfolgreich im Jahr 2021 das Debüt. Gestärkt durch die durchaus positiven Reaktionen der Musikpresse wagt man den großen Schritt und unternahm eine ausgedehnte Tour durch Amerika mit Obsessedd und im Anschluss zusammen mit Howling Giant durch Europa. Nun war es Zeit für ein zweites Studioalbum, welches nun mit Namen, Garden of Heathens, in den Verkaufsregalen steht. Hierauf befinden sich acht neue Songs, die den Psychodelic Doom Metal des Trios bestens wiedergibt. Im Gegensatz zum Debüt, welches sehr stark nach vorn ging, schaltet man auf Gardens of Heathens einen Gang zurück und konzentriert sich verstärkt auf die wirklichen Ansprüche der Mitglieder und ihrer Botschaft. Wobei die Texte zwar offensichtlich sehr in eine religiöse Richtung schielen, so sollte man selbige nicht wirklich allzu ernst nehmen. Sind sie doch allesamt mehr Erfunden als Real, so Frontfrau und Sängerin, High Priestess Nighthawk. Mit dem neuen Album beweisen Heavy Temple abermals ihre Bodenständigkeit, Liebe zum Riff, der auch hier voll im Vordergrund steht, und erweitern ihren musikalischen Horizont. Für Freunde des Psychodelic Genres auf jeden Fall genau das Richtige.

Heavy Temple is a trio from Philadelphia, founded in 2012 on a night soaked in heavy metal. Their sound is heavily reminiscent of the early days of Black Sabbath and co. After two EPs and several singles, they successfully released their debut in 2021. Encouraged by the positive reactions from the music press, they took the big step and undertook an extensive tour through America with Obsessedd and then through Europe together with Howling Giant. Now it was time for a second studio album, which is now on the shelves under the name Garden of Heathens. It contains eight new songs that perfectly reflect the trio's psychedelic doom metal. In contrast to their debut, which was very forward, Gardens of Heathens shifts down a gear and concentrates more on the real demands of the members and their message. Although the lyrics obviously have a religious slant, they shouldn't really be taken too seriously. They are all more invented than real, according to front woman and singer, High Priestess Nighthawk. With their new album, Heavy Temple once again prove their down-to-earth attitude, their love of the riff, which is also to the fore here, and expand their musical horizons. For fans of the psychedelic genre, this is definitely just the thing.
