Ich gehöre persönlich noch zu den Menschen, die sich immer dann, wenn ihre alten Helden und Vertreter des guten alten Heavy Metal und Hard Rock etwas neues veröffentlichen, freuen wie ein kleines Kind vorm buntgeschmückten und hellerleuchteten Weihnachtsbaum. So auch bei dem nun zu beurteilenden neuen Werk. Zwar ist es bei der hier vorliegenden Formation so, dass hier nicht ein einziges Gründungsmitglied mehr dabei ist, der wundervolle Mark Real erlag ja bekanntlich auch bereits 2012 seiner jahrelangen Krankheit, und die Formation auch mittlerweile das V als Namensanhang trägt, aber dennoch huldigen die „neuen“ Mitglieder nach wie vor dem alten Styl dieser für mich unschlagbaren Powermetal Band. Die Rede ist von den bis heute unschlagbaren Riot / Riot V. Sie gelten mit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1976 nicht ohne Grund als die Gründer des amerikanischen Powermetals. Ganze siebzehn Studioalben, dreimal Live (zählt man die Bootlegs nicht mit; sowie Greatest Hits, Remastered und Box Sets, zählt der Backingkatalog dieser Band. Ganz besonders seien hier Namen wie Guy Speranzer, Rhett Forester, Bobby Jarzombek und natürlich Mark Real, die den unverwechselbaren Power Style dieser Band prägten und vorantrieben genannt. Aber auch die aktuelle Besetzung, die zum Teil mit den alten Helden zusammen spielen durften führen genau diesen Style fort. Und das macht Riot / Riot V eben aus. Genau dies hält die Fans seit so vielen Jahren bei der Fahne. Und dies sorgt auch heute noch nach so vielen Jahren noch immer für volle Häuser, wenn es heißt Riot sind in der Stadt. Nun im Jahr 2024 kommt mit Mean Streets das nächste hammerharte Langeisen. Und wie nicht anders zu erwarten, gehen Riot V ihren weg unaufhaltsam voran und treiben den Hörer in unerwartete Höhen des Powermetal. Schnelle Riffs, die wie Rasierklingen ins Fleisch schneiden. Treibende Beats, die das Blut zum überkochen bringen und ein Messerscharfer Gesang der dem Ganzen die Kröne aufsetzt. Was will das Metalherz mehr ? Nichts! Deshalb gibt es hier volle Punktzahl und Kaufempfehlung für Zwölf mal Riot. Zwölf mal voll auf die Mütze. Oder ganz einfach Zwölf mal Mean Streets von Riot V.

Personally, I'm still one of those people who, whenever their old heroes and representatives of good old heavy metal and hard rock release something new, are as happy as a little child in front of a brightly decorated and brightly lit Christmas tree. This is also the case with the new work to be reviewed. Although there is not a single founding member left in this formation - the wonderful Mark Real is known to have succumbed to his long illness in 2012 - and the formation now also bears the V as a suffix to its name, the "new" members still pay homage to the old style of this, for me, unbeatable power metal band. We are talking about the still unbeatable Riot / Riot V. Founded in 1976, they are considered the founders of American power metal for good reason. The band's backing catalog includes seventeen studio albums, three live albums (not counting the bootlegs), greatest hits, remastered albums and box sets. Names such as Guy Speranzer, Rhett Forester, Bobby Jarzombek and of course Mark Real, who shaped and drove forward the unmistakable power style of this band, deserve special mention here. But the current line-up, some of whom were allowed to play together with the old heroes, also continue this style. And that's what makes Riot / Riot V so special. This is exactly what has kept fans loyal to the band for so many years. And even today, after so many years, it still ensures full houses when Riot are in town. Now, in 2024, the next hard-hitting longplayer arrives with Mean Streets. And as you would expect, Riot V continue on their unstoppable path, driving the listener to unexpected heights of power metal. Fast riffs that cut into the flesh like razor blades. Driving beats that make the blood boil over and razor-sharp vocals that crown the whole thing. What more could the metal heart want? Nothing more! That's why I give Twelve Times Riot full marks and a recommendation to buy. Twelve times full on the cap. Or quite simply Twelve Times Mean Streets by Riot V.
