Wenn die Welt verstummt
Der Albumtitel "Quan tot sapagui" (katalanisch für „Wenn alles erlischt“) könnte nicht
treffender gewählt sein. Syberia haben mit diesem Werk ein post-metallisches Monument geschaffen, das die Trümmerlandschaft des Covers klanglich perfekt einfängt. Wo andere Bands auf schnelle Hooks setzen, lassen Syberia die Zeit stillstehen. Es ist eine Reise durch urbane Einsamkeit, Verfall und die zerbrechliche Hoffnung, die in der Dunkelheit glimmt. Musikalisch bewegen wir uns hier in einem Grenzbereich zwischen massiven Riff-Wänden und filigranen, fast schon zerbrechlichen Post-Rock-Passagen. Ein Album wie ein tiefer Atemzug in einer staubigen Stadt.
Track-by-Track: Fragmente der Dunkelheit
1. En la foscor una llum que brilla... (In der Dunkelheit ein Licht, das leuchtet...): Ein
gewaltiger Opener, der sich über neun Minuten Zeit nimmt, um den Hörer völlig zu
isolieren. Der Song beginnt mit einer flirrenden Gitarre, bevor die gesamte Band wie eine
Lawine über einen hereinbricht. Ein Lichtblick in der Finsternis, der schmerzt und heilt
zugleich.
2. Llamprecs d'oblit d'uns records en vida (Blitze des Vergessens lebendiger
Erinnerungen): Dieser Track wirkt wie ein Blitzschlag der Vergessenheit. Die
Rhythmusfraktion liefert hier ein unglaubliches Fundament, während die Melodien wie
ferne Echos durch den Raum hallen. Die Dynamik zwischen laut und leise wird hier perfekt
zelebriert.
3. Naixença d'una mort tranquil·la (Geburt eines ruhigen Todes): Der Titel ist Programm.
Der Song ist getragen, fast schon meditativ, bis er in der Mitte eine ungeahnte Härte
entwickelt. Es ist die Vertonung des Unvermeidlichen, verpackt in wunderschöne
Melancholie.
4. Dins la meva ànima la sang em bull... (In meiner Seele kocht mein Blut...): Wenn die
Seele kocht. Über zehn Minuten lang steigert sich dieser Song in eine Raserei, die man
Syberia so kaum zugetraut hätte. Es ist der aggressivste, emotionalste Moment des Albums –
ein brodelnder Vulkan kurz vor dem Ausbruch.
5. Quan me'n vagi no em tanqueu els ulls (Wenn ich gehe, schließt mir nicht die Augen):
Das Finale. Ein Abschiedsgruß, der keine Fragen offenlässt. Über zehn Minuten lang wird
hier alles aufgeboten, was Post-Metal ausmacht: Epik, Verzweiflung und eine klangliche
Weite, die einen atemlos zurücklässt. Schließ die Augen nicht, wenn alles endet.
Das Fazit: Ein Meisterwerk der Melancholie
"Quan tot sapagui" ist kein Album für zwischendurch. Es fordert Aufmerksamkeit und die
Bereitschaft, sich fallen zu lassen. Syberia haben sich 2026 selbst übertroffen und ein Werk
abgeliefert, dass die Essenz des Post-Metal atmet: roh, ehrlich und von einer traurigen Schönheit, die
man so schnell nicht vergisst.

When the World Falls Silent
The album title "Quan tot sapagui" (Catalan for "When everything goes out") couldn't have been chosen more fittingly. With this work, Syberia has created a post-metal monument that perfectly captures the sonic landscape of the urban wreckage shown on the cover. Where other bands rely on quick hooks, Syberia makes time stand still. It is a journey through urban solitude, decay, and the fragile hope that glimmers in the dark. Musically, we are moving in a borderland between massive walls of riffs and delicate, almost breakable post-rock passages. An album like a deep breath in a dust-choked city.
Track-by-Track: Fragments of Darkness
1. En la foscor una llum que brilla... (In the darkness, a light that shines...): A powerful
opener that takes nine minutes to completely isolate the listener. The song begins with a
flickering guitar before the entire band breaks over you like an avalanche. A glimmer of light
in the darkness that hurts and heals at the same time.
2. Llamprecs d'oblit d'uns records en vida (Flashes of oblivion of memories in life): This
track acts like a lightning strike of forgetfulness. The rhythm section provides an incredible
foundation here, while the melodies echo through the room like distant signals. The dynamics between loud and quiet are celebrated perfectly here.
3. Naixença d'una mort tranquil·la (Birth of a peaceful death): The title says it all. The
song is steady, almost meditative, until it develops an unexpected heaviness in the middle. It
is the musical setting of the inevitable, wrapped in beautiful melancholy.
4. Dins la meva ànima la sang em bull... (In my soul, my blood boils...): When the soul
reaches its boiling point. For over ten minutes, this song builds into a frenzy that one would
hardly have expected from Syberia. It is the most aggressive, emotional moment of the
album—a simmering volcano just before eruption.
5. Quan me'n vagi no em tanqueu els ulls (When I leave, do not close my eyes): The finale. A parting greeting that leaves no questions unanswered. For over ten minutes, everything that defines post-metal is on display: epic scale, despair, and a sonic vastness that leaves you breathless. Do not close your eyes when everything ends.
The Verdict: A Masterpiece of Melancholy
"Quan tot sapagui" is not an album for casual listening. It demands attention and a willingness to
let oneself fall. Syberia has surpassed themselves in 2026, delivering a work that breathes the very
essence of post-metal: raw, honest, and filled with a mournful beauty that won't be forgotten
anytime soon. It is a mandatory appointment for all those who don't just want to hear music, but
want to sink into it.
