Es gibt schon erzählenswerte Geschichten über Bands und Künstler. „Nein!“ ein jeder Künstler und jede Band oder Formation hat ihre Geschichte, doch bei manchen ist es so, dass es sich lohnt eine Geschichte immer wieder zu erzählen, da sie irgendwie doch unglaublich erscheint. So zum Beispiel die Geschichte einer Band, Namens Lightning Strikes. Gegründet 1983/84 veröffentlichte man lediglich eine einzige Single, mit Namen, „Lightning Strikes" b/w "Lottery Ticket". Dies geschah im Jahr 1986, und obwohl man Live und auch mit der Veröffentlichung der Single durchaus erfolgreich war, endete die Geschichte der Band bereits wieder im Jahr 1987. Zu diesem noch frühen zeitpunkt, hatte sich die Urformation, bereits einmal komplett aufgelöst und nur Gründer und Schlagwerker, Karpis Maksudian, blieb zurück. Dieser formierte die Band zwar komplett neu, hielt aber nur gerade mal ein Jahr durch. Offiziell wurde die Band zwar nie beendet, doch war bis ins Jahr 2016 nichts mehr von ihnen zu hören. Karpis Maksudian, hatte bereits im Jahr 2000 beschlossen, nachdem er Jahrzehnte lang als Fernsehjournalist und Regisseur für Musikvideos seinen unterhalt bestritt, wieder musik zu machen. Das Ergebnis war, und jetzt kommt das Besondere an dieser Geschichte, nach über vierzig Jahren seit der gründung der Band, ihr Debüt Album, Lightning Strikes, welches im Jahr 2016 über das deutsche Label, Pure Legens Records, veröffentlicht wurde.
Das Album erschien am 18. November 2016 und wurde von einem Musikvideo zum Song „Death Valley“ mit Tony Martin begleitet. Ein zweites Video zur Coverversion des Deep-Purple -Klassikers „Our Lady“ folgte im Januar 2017 mit der Veröffentlichung des Albums in Nordamerika. Lightning Strikes feierten ihren größten Erfolg in Japan, wo das Album in die Importcharts des Burrn! -Magazins einstieg und sich dort drei Monate lang hielt, mit Platz 6 als Höchstplatzierung.
Eine limitierte Vinyl-Version von Lightning Strikes, die beide Versionen der Single der Band aus dem Jahr 1986 als Bonustracks enthält, wurde im November 2017 zusammen mit einem Video zum Song "Can't Cross the Rainbow" veröffentlicht.
Jetzt, und zwar genau am 23.5.2026 erscheint nun zum einen das zweite Album, mit Namen, „The King is Victorious“ (VÖ: Februar 2026) als Vinyl Version, und zum anderen die ursprüngliche Lightning-Strikes-Single aus dem Jahr 1986 – mit den Titeln „Lottery Tickets“ und „Lightning Strikes“ – weltweit auf allen gängigen digitalen Streaming- und Download-Plattformen. Das Vinyl wird exklusiv über Ebay vertrieben und durch eine veröffentlichte Video-Single zum Song, „Voices in My Head“, begleitet. Da die eigentliche Veröffentlichung des Albums bereits einen sehr guten Anklang fand und bei Kritikern als auch Fans hoch gelobt wurde, darf hier wohl ebenso mit einem weiteren Erfolg zu rechnen sein.

There are certainly stories about bands and artists that are worth telling. Indeed—every artist, band, or musical group has a story; yet with some, the tale is worth recounting time and again because, somehow, it still seems almost unbelievable. Take, for instance, the story of a band named Lightning Strikes. Formed in 1983 or 1984, the group released only a single 7-inch record titled "Lightning Strikes" b/w "Lottery Ticket." This occurred in 1986, and although they enjoyed considerable success—both in their live performances and with the release of the single—the band's story came to an abrupt end just a year later, in 1987. At this still-early stage, the original lineup had already completely dissolved, leaving only the founder and drummer, Karpis Maksudian, behind. Although he proceeded to completely re-form the band, this new incarnation lasted for barely a year. While the band was never officially disbanded, nothing more was heard from them until 2016. As early as the year 2000—after spending decades earning his living as a television journalist and music video director—Karpis Maksudian had decided to return to making music. The result—and here lies the truly remarkable twist in this story—was the band's debut album, *Lightning Strikes*, released in 2016 via the German label Pure Legends Records—more than forty years after the band's inception.
The album was released on November 18, 2016, and was accompanied by a music video for the song "Death Valley," featuring Tony Martin. A second video—for their cover version of the Deep Purple classic "Our Lady"—followed in January 2017, coinciding with the album's release in North America. Lightning Strikes achieved their greatest success in Japan, where the album entered the import charts of *Burrn!* magazine, remaining there for three months and peaking at number 6.
A limited-edition vinyl version of *Lightning Strikes*—featuring both versions of the band's 1986 single as bonus tracks—was released in November 2017, accompanied by a video for the song "Can't Cross the Rainbow."
Now—specifically on May 23, 2026—two releases come out: first, the band's second album, titled *The King Is Victorious* (originally released in February 2026), has been issued on vinyl; and second, the original 1986 Lightning Strikes single—featuring the tracks "Lottery Tickets" and "Lightning Strikes"—has been made available worldwide across all major digital streaming and download platforms. The vinyl edition is being distributed exclusively via eBay and is accompanied by a newly released video single for the song "Voices in My Head." Given that the album's initial release was met with an excellent reception—garnering high praise from both critics and fans—it is safe to anticipate yet another success with this latest release.
