Die norddeutschen Power-Metaller von Mob Rules kehrten 2025 mit ihrem zehnten Studioalbum „Rise of the Ruler“ zurück. Das Album erhielt euphorische Kritiken in der Presse und avancierte direkt zu einem Glanzlicht in der Karriere der Band. Besonders hervorzuheben war dabei die streng limitierte 2-CD-Earbook-Edition, die durch fünf exklusiv hierfür komponierte Titel besticht.
Zu Mob Rules muss in der Szene nicht mehr viel erzählt werden. Gegründet 1994 von Matthias Mineur, Thorsten Plorin, Klaus Dirks und Arved Mannott, ist als einziges verbleibendes Gründungsmitglied heute noch Klaus Dirks am Start. Selbiger hält die Fahne des Niedersächsischen Powermetal Urgesteins aber fleißig weiter hoch erhoben in den Wind. Wie erwähnt war das mittlerweile zehnte Studioalbum so erfolgreich wie keines seiner Vorgänger. Die extra für die Earbook Edition kreierten Songs waren allerdings bereits 2025 zu gut, um nur als Bonus stehen zu lassen. So entschied die Band sich, selbstwissend, dass sie sich damit einiges aufhalsen würden, dazu weitere Songs zu schreiben und aufzunehmen. Das so entstandene Material sollte ureigens zwar auch den Liebhabern von Vinyl die Möglichkeit schaffen, die bis dahin nur via Earbook erhältlichen Songs genießen zu können. Schlußendlich ergab aber das komplette Paket an neuen Songs, ein für sich selbst stehendes weiteres Album, welches nun in Vinyl als auch in allen anderen Formaten vorliegt. Dabei bilden die Songs von, Stories From The Verdant Vale, einen doch sehr interessanten Kontrast zum Material des Ursprungs-Albums, Rise of the Ruler und dürfen sowohl als Weiterführung des „Hauptalbums, als aber auch für sich alleistehende Songs betrachtet werden. Aber nur keine Sorge auch das Material des nun als elftes Studioalbum gehandelten Werkes, lässt keine Wünsche offen. Der Fan der Band und des Powermetals kommt voll auf seine Kosten. Zwar handeld es sich bei, Stories From The Verdant Vale, um ein Concept-Album, aber selbiges ist so ausgeklügelt produziert, dass man nicht umhinkommt das Album zu feiern. Aufgemöbelt wurde das Album dann mit seiner B-Seite auf dem sich ware Schätze befinden, die unter anderem bisher ebenfalls nie auf Vinyl veröffentlicht wurden. Auf Mob Rules ist auch nach über Zwanzig Jahren Verlass, und das ist auch verdammt gut so. Meine Herren, gut gemacht. Danke im Namen aller fans und Hörer. Und ganz ehrlich, wenn aus „Übrigen“ Songs so etwas geiles entsteht, dürfet ihr gern bei jeder weiteren Produktion, Überproduzieren. Auch hier gibt es die volle Punktzahl!

North German power metal band Mob Rules returned in 2025 with their tenth studio album, *Rise of the Ruler*. The album garnered rave reviews from the press and immediately became a highlight of the band's career. Of particular note was the strictly limited 2-CD Earbook edition, which stood out thanks to five tracks composed exclusively for it.
Little needs to be said about Mob Rules within the scene. Founded in 1994 by Matthias Mineur, Thorsten Plorin, Klaus Dirks, and Arved Mannott, Klaus Dirks remains the only original member still in the lineup. He continues to fly the flag high for this veteran Lower Saxon power metal act. As mentioned, this tenth studio album was more successful than any of its predecessors. However, the songs created specifically for the Earbook edition were simply too good to remain mere bonus tracks. Fully aware of the significant extra workload they were taking on, the band decided to write and record additional material. The resulting material was originally intended to give vinyl enthusiasts the chance to enjoy songs that had previously been available only via the Earbook. Ultimately, however, the complete collection of new songs formed a standalone album in its own right, which is now available on vinyl as well as in all other formats. The songs on *Stories From The Verdant Vale* offer a fascinating contrast to the material on the original album, *Rise of the Ruler*; they can be viewed both as a continuation of the "main" album and as standalone tracks in their own right. Rest assured, the material on this release—now counted as their eleventh studio album—leaves nothing to be desired. Fans of the band and of power metal are in for a real treat. Although *Stories From The Verdant Vale* is a concept album, the production is so sophisticated that you simply have to love it. The album is further enhanced by a B-side packed with genuine gems—tracks that, among other things, had never previously been released on vinyl. You can still rely on Mob Rules after more than twenty years, and that is a damn good thing. Gentlemen, well done. Thank you on behalf of all fans and listeners. And honestly, if "leftover" songs can turn into something this awesome, feel free to "over-produce" on every future release. Full marks here, too!
