Egal wann. Egal wo, auch immer der Begriff Pagan-Metal fällt, ist der Name Varg nicht fern.
Varg ist eine deutsche Metal-Band aus Coburg. Seit der Gründung im Jahr 2005 ist ein steter Wandel des Musikstils festzustellen. Spielte die Band anfangs noch reinen Pagan Metal, findet sich heute ein großer Einfluss der Neuen Deutschen Härte und des Melodic Death Metal bzw. Modern Metal in der Musik. Die Band selbst bezeichnet ihre Musik als „Wolf Metal“.
Nun, spätesten mit ihrem Erfolgsalbum, Zeichen, aus dem Jahr 2020 sind Varg zurück bei ihren Wurzeln angekommen und dort fest manifestiert. Dies beweisen sie sehr eindrucksvoll auf dem neuen Werk, Ewige Wacht, welches heute offiziell erschienen ist. Elf neue Songs die alle wahre Genickbrecher sind präsentieren die Coburger ein weiters Werk voll im Style des Vorgängers. Und das ist auch verdammt gut so, den so kann die Formation ihre Stärken voll ausleben und den Fan genau mit dem beschenken was er sich erwünscht. Brutaler Pagan Metal, der nicht nur ins Ohr, sondern ziemlich direkt nach Eintritt in den Gehörgang auch ins Blut und Tanzbein über geht. Bereits der Opener macht klar, das sich Varg immer Treu seien werden. So auch der Name des Songs. Brachiale Instrumente, unter die Haut gehender Gesang, das ist Varg. Das ist Wolf Metal. Volles Brett und somit volle Punktzahl.
