Und da sind wir nun am Ende eines ereignisreichen Jahres angekommen. Ereignisreich nicht nur für uns, sondern ins besondere auch für diese Herren, die wir hier zu guter Letzt noch die Ehre haben zu „beurteilen“. Lord oft he Lost sind seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2009 stetig am Wachsen. Bandinterne Wechsel, Experimente. Studio und Live Alben, Live-Auftritte, nicht zu Letzt im Vorprogram der einzigartigen Iron Maiden oder gar der Versuch Deutschland beim ESC gut zu platzieren, gehören längst zur Erfolgsgeschichte der Hamburger um Allrounder und Frontmann/Sänger Chris Harms. Nu veröffentlich man zum Jahresende noch schnell das erste Cover Album der Bandgeschichte und „vergreift“ sich dabei an echten Klassikern der Musik-Geschichte. Vergreifen ist im Fall von Lord oft he Lost aber der völlig falsche Ausdruck, denn es ist egal was diese Formation anfasst, schlussendlich setzen die Herren allem ihren persönlichen Stempel auf und der macht selbst aus Blut, Glitter. So auch mit ihren neusten Streich, Weapons of Mass Seduction. So der Name des am heutigen Tag erschienenen Albums, welches in der "Normalfassung", elf Songs enthält. Dass sich Lord oft he Lost nicht scheuen hierbei auch ein buntes Potpourri aus unterschiedlichsten Musik-Styles zu kreieren, dürfte daher nicht verwundern. Man beschränkt sich nicht einfach auf Pop, oder Rock, oder gar Electronic, nein, man packt einfach die unterschiedlichsten Genres und Jahrzehnte an und verwandelt wahre Musikschätze in völlig neue Songs und mitunter in echte neue Hits. So wird schnell aus einem Givin to me von Michael Jackson eine echte Rockballade mit einem unglaublichen Gitarrensolo. Oder aus einem mit für Judas Priest gemachten eins A Screaming Heavy Metal Kracher eine düstere Hard Rock Hymne.Selbst Billy Idol dürfte sich über die verdammt rockige Version seines Hits, Shock the System, mehr als freuen. Irgendwie sehe ich den guten Billy beim Anhören regelrecht feiern und tanzen. So setzt es sich fröhlich fort. Hymn von Ultravox, (I Just) Died in your Arms, von Cutting Crew, oder Smaltown Boy, der Bronski Beats, bekommen somit einen frischen Anstrich und können sich allesamt hören lassen. Gerade ich, der ein echter Kritiker von Cover, Live oder Best of Versionen bin, muss gestehen, das Lord of the Lost hier ein genialer Streich gelungen ist. Vielleicht muss der eine oder andere mehrmals hinhören, um einen echten Draht zum Album zu finden. Doch seien wir mal ehrlich, warum nicht mal etwas Neues versuchen und alten Schuhen neue Sohlen verpassen. Wir wünschen allen Fans und Lesern viel Vergnügen mit dem neuen „alten“ Material und einen guten Rutsch nach 2024. Ich bin mir sicher das der eine oder andere den Jahreswechsel jetzt mit Lord of the Lost bestreiten wird.
Wer nicht genug von diesem Album bekommt, der sollte dann gleich die zwei CD Version erwerben, diese enthält nämlich gleich die doppelte Anzahl an Songs. Macht also gleich zweimal soviel Spaß!
And here we have come to the end of an eventful year. Eventful not only for us, but especially for these gentlemen, whom we finally have the honor of “judging” here. Lord of the Lost have been growing steadily since they were founded in 2009. Intra-band changes, experiments. Studio and live albums, live performances, not least in the preliminary program of the unique Iron Maiden or even the attempt to place Germany well at the ESC, have long been part of the success story of the Hamburg band around all-rounder and frontman/singer Chris Harms. Now, at the end of the year, they quickly release the first cover album in the band's history and "take on" real classics of music history. In the case of Lord often he Lost, trespassing is the completely wrong expression, because it doesn't matter what this formation touches, in the end the gentlemen put their personal stamp on everything and that turns blood into glitter. This is also the case with their latest prank, Weapons of Mass Seduction. That's the name of the album released today, which contains eleven songs in the "normal version". It should therefore come as no surprise that Lord of the Lost are not afraid to create a colorful potpourri of different music styles. You don't just limit yourself to pop, or rock, or even electronic, no, you simply tackle a wide variety of genres and decades and transform true musical treasures into completely new songs and sometimes into real new hits. Givin to me by Michael Jackson quickly becomes a real rock ballad with an incredible guitar solo. Or a dark hard rock anthem from an A Screaming heavy metal hit made for Judas Priest. Even Billy Idol should be more than happy about the damn rock version of his hit, Shock the System. Somehow I can see the good Billy actually celebrating and dancing when I listen to it. So it continues happily. Hymn by Ultravox, (I Just) Died in your Arms, by Cutting Crew, or Smaltown Boy, the Bronski Beats, get a fresh coat of paint and can all be heard. I, in particular, who am a real critic of cover, live or best of versions, have to admit that Lord of the Lost has pulled off a brilliant stroke here. Maybe some people will have to listen several times to find a real connection to the album. But let's be honest, why not try something new and give old shoes new soles. We wish all fans and readers a lot of fun with the new “old” material and a happy new year after 2024. I am sure that one or two of them will now celebrate the turn of the year with Lord of the Lost.
If you can't get enough of this album, you should buy the two CD version as it contains twice the number of songs. So it's twice as much fun!
