Wenn auch Chris Bay das letzte noch vorhandene und aktive Gründungsmitglied der im Jahr 1998 gegründeten Powermetal Band, Freedom Call, ist, kann die Formation auf eine sehr bewegte und erfolgreiche Geschichte zurückblicken. So kommt man mit dem neusten Studiowerk, Silver Romance auf ganz elf Alben. Dem gesellen sich neun EPs, Singles und Live Aufnahmen hinzu, was dann schon einen beachtlichen Backingkatalog ergibt. Stilistisch bewegt sich die deutsche, zum größten Teil aus Bayern stammende Band im Bereich des Powermetal, mit eingängigen, teilweise gar hymnischen Melodien. Thematisch liegen Freedom Call, wie viele ihrer Kollegen auch, im Bereich Fantasie und Mythen. Nachdem man mit dem im Jahr 2019 erschienen Erfolgsalbum, M.E.T.A.L. auf Tour war, soweit dies in dieser Zeit überhaupt möglich war, wurde das genannte Album ebenfalls noch als Live Version veröffentlicht, bis es schließlich hieß, zurück ins Studio um neues Material aufzunehmen. Das so entstandene Material liegt nun in Form den elften Studioalbums, mit Namen Silver Romance in den Verkaufsregalen. Hierbei handelt es sich dann auch gleich um eine nahtlose Fortsetzung des bisher gelieferten Materials. Treibende Drums, sägende Gitarren, rhythmische Basslinien und der gewohnt perfekt passende Gesang von Chris Bay, machen das neue Album zu einem echten Highlight. Wer hier stillstehen kann, braucht dringend ärztliche Hilfe. Wer hier anzweifelt, das Freedom Call nicht zu den ganz großen Nummern im Powermetal gezählt werden darf, der sollte sich das Album ganz sicher zu Gemühte ziehen. Dreizehn mal Kick Ass. Dreizehn mal Power, voll aufs Maul. So muss das und so darf es auch verdammt noch mal weiter gehen. Wir sagen Danke für bste Unterhaltung und wünschen weiterhin maximalen Erfolg…

Although Chris Bay is the last remaining and active founding member of the power metal band Freedom Call, which was founded in 1998, the band can look back on a very eventful and successful history. With their latest studio album, Silver Romance, they have released eleven albums. Nine EPs, singles and live recordings are added to this, resulting in a considerable backing catalog. Stylistically, the German band, most of whom hail from Bavaria, play power metal with catchy, sometimes even anthemic melodies. Thematically, Freedom Call, like many of their colleagues, focus on fantasy and myths. After touring with the successful album M.E.T.A.L., which was released in 2019, as far as this was possible at the time, the aforementioned album was also released as a live version until it was finally time to return to the studio to record new material. The resulting material is now on the shelves in the form of the eleventh studio album, Silver Romance. This is a seamless continuation of the material delivered so far. Driving drums, sawing guitars, rhythmic bass lines and Chris Bay's usual perfectly fitting vocals make the new album a real highlight. Anyone who can stand still here needs urgent medical attention. Anyone who doubts that Freedom Call can't be counted among the really big names in power metal should definitely check out this album. Thirteen times kick ass. Thirteen times power, full on. That's the way it has to be and that's the way it can bloody well go on. We say thank you for the best entertainment and wish you continued maximum success...
