Schon allein die Geschichte der Entstehung dieser Band, genau wie die Namen der Mitglieder, liest sich wie ein Märchen aus 1000 und einer Metal-Geschichte. Angefangen mit dem Gründer, Jairo „Tormentor“ Guedz, an der Gitarre, der als Ursprungsgitarrist in den Jahren, 1985 bis 1986 der Brasilianischen Trash-Metal Legende, Sepultura agierte. Er gründete zusammen mit Marcelo Vasco (Patria, Mysteriis), einem weltweit bekannter Grafiker, der für seine Arbeit mit Bands wie Slayer
mit Bands wie Slayer, Dee Snider, Kreator, Machine Head, Soulfly und vielen anderen bekannt ist, dem Sänger und Bassist Alex Kafer, ehemaliger Live-Gitarrist von Matanza, und dem Schlagzeuger Alexandre Oliveira, einem ehemaliges Mitglied der Band Tianastácia, im Pandemiejahr 2020 die Trashmetal Band, Troops of Doom. Bereits während der Pandemie und ohne die Möglichkeit sich live präsentieren zu können, veröffentlichte die Formation drei EPs: „The Rise of Heresy“
(2020), „The Absence of Light“ (2021) und „Prelude to Blasphemy“ (2023), sowie ihr
Debütalbum „Antichrist Reborn“, das 2022 auf CD, LP und Kassette bei dem europäischen
Label Alma Mater Records, das von Fernando Ribeiro bekannt durch die portugiesische Band
Moonspell. Das Album wurde in Brasilien durch Rock Brigade Records und Voice Music lizenziert und
mit digitalem Vertrieb durch Blood Blast, einem digitalen Arm von Nuclear Blast/Believe/Sony Music veröffentlicht.
Nun ist es an der Zeit für das zweite Studioalbum. Nachdem sich die Band, auch seit 2021, Live, einen Namen erspielen konnte und in Brasilien bereits das eine oder andere Konzert rockte, wird das neue Material bereits mit großer Hoffnung erwartet. Just in den heutigen Tagen, ist es nun soweit und „A Mass To The Grotesque“ steht für den interessierten Hörer in den Verkaufsregalen. Erneut legen The Troops of Doom ein vor 80’er Jahre, Death Metal, im Style von Slayer, Celtic Frost, Kreator und Possessed und natürlich Sepultura, nur so strotzendes, elf Song langes, Album vor. So verkündet bereits das Intro, Solve Et Coagula – Introduction, das nahende „Unheil“, welches sich dann auch gleich mit dem absoluten Genickbrecher, Chapels Of The Unholy, vorsetzt. Und so erspielt sich, A Mass tot he Grotestque, von Song zu Song seinen platz ganz oben in der Liste der alten Trash und Deathmetal Alben. Wer auf diese Klänge steht, der wird um dieses Album nicht herum kommen. Besser kann man klassische Musik dieses Genres nicht produzieren. So freuen wir uns nun nicht nur über dieses wahrlich verdammt gute Album, sondern auch auf die bevorstehende Tour, die auch durch unsere Stadt führen wird…

The story of the band's formation alone, just like the names of the members, reads like a tale of a thousand and one metal stories. Starting with the founder, Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz, on guitar, who was the original guitarist of the Brazilian trash metal legend Sepultura from 1985 to 1986. Together with Marcelo Vasco (Patria, Mysteriis), a world-renowned graphic artist known for his work with bands such as Slayer
with bands like Slayer, Dee Snider, Kreator, Machine Head, Soulfly and many others, the singer and bassist Alex Kafer, former live guitarist of Matanza, and the drummer Alexandre Oliveira, a former member of the band Tianastácia, formed the trash metal band, Troops of Doom, in the pandemic year 2020. Already during the pandemic and without the opportunity to present themselves live, the formation released three EPs: “The Rise of Heresy”
(2020), “The Absence of Light” (2021) and “Prelude to Blasphemy” (2023), as well as their debut album
debut album “Antichrist Reborn”, which will be released on CD, LP and cassette in 2022 on the European
label Alma Mater Records, run by Fernando Ribeiro, best known for the Portuguese band
Moonspell. The album was licensed in Brazil through Rock Brigade Records and Voice Music and

Now it's time for the second studio album. After the band has made a name for itself live since 2021 and has already rocked one or two concerts in Brazil, the new material is already awaited with great hope. Just today, the time has come and “A Mass To The Grotesque” is on the shelves for interested listeners. Once again, The Troops of Doom present an eleven-song album bursting with 80s death metal in the style of Slayer, Celtic Frost, Kreator, Possessed and of course Sepultura. The intro, Solve Et Coagula - Introduction, already announces the approaching “disaster”, which then immediately introduces itself with the absolute neckbreaker, Chapels Of The Unholy. And so, from song to song, A Mass tot he Grotestque earns its place at the top of the list of old trash and death metal albums. If you like these sounds, you won't be able to avoid this album. There is no better way to produce classic music of this genre. So now we are not only looking forward to this really damn good album, but also to the upcoming tour, which will also lead through our city...
