Eine der von uns in den letzten Jahren wohl mit am stärksten beobachteten und unterstützten Bands meldet sich nach vier Jahren Albumabstinenz zurück. Vier Jahre ohne Album, heißt aber gerade in Sachen Soulbound keinesfalls Stillstand. Ganz im Gegenteil. Nach ihrem Erfolgsalbum, Addicted to Hell, im Jahre 2020, präsentierten sich Soulbound so oft sie nur konnten und durften, dem Publikum und ihren Fans als Support, der unterschiedlichsten Bands. Man feierte Erfolge vor u.a. Lord oft he Lost oder Hell Boulevard. Veröffentlichte vier knallharte Vorabsingles und begeisterte sowohl die „Hungrigen“ Fans als auch die Musikwelt und Presse. Aber mal ganz ehrlich, wen wundert es das diese durchweg sympathische Formation, angeführt von Frontmann, Johannes "Johnny" Stecker, auf einem solchen Erfolgskurs ist? Uns jedenfalls nicht. Gerade seit Freitag, dem Releaseday des nun endlich erschienenen neuen Album, ObsYdian, überschlagen sich die Herren damit, den Fans und Hörern in jeglicher nur möglichen Form zu danken, da die letzten vier Jahre nicht nur Anstrengend und oft Kraftraubend waren, sondern auch schon mal sehr Schwierig daher kamen. Irgendwie war aber Aufgeben nie eine echte Option und so steht ObsYdian nun seit Freitag endlich in den Verkaufsregalen und dem Weg nach Oben auf der Erfolgsleiter wohl nichts mehr im Wege.
Kommen wir aber nun schnell zum Album selbst, welches Soulbound, die im Jahr 2009 ihre Gründung fanden nun veröffentlicht haben.
Soulbound stehen vom ersten Release an, für kompromisslosen Industrial Rock, der sich aus einer Mischung von düsteren Klängen, Elektronisch unterstützt und durch messerscharfe Riffs und treibende Rhythmen auszeichnet. Das ganze wird abgerundet durch den Gesang ihres Frontmannes Jonny, der mal mit viel Gefühl, mal mit verdammter Härte zu Werke geht. So ist die Vielseitigkeit dieser Band, wohl eben genau das, was sie ausmacht und zu etwas, nun man kann schon sagen Besonderes macht. Oh, ich höre schon wieder die Neider und Hater, die da sagen werden, es gibt bereits weitere Anwärter genau dieses Styles und die sind länger im Geschäft. Durchaus möglich, aber selbige heißen dann eben nicht Soulbound.
Mit ObsYdian präsentieren Soulbound nicht nur ihr nun bereits viertes Studioalbum, sondern wohl auch das härteste Stück Arbeit ihrer Geschichte. Ganze Elf Songs, die sich wie ein Schlagbohrer durch das Gehör fräsen und durch ihren mitreißenden Rhythmus einfach dazu einladen das Album und jeden seiner Songs zu feiern. Härte steht hier an vorderster Front. Dies gilt sowohl für die sieben „Brecher“ des Albums wie auch für die zwei Balladen, eine Orchestral Version und das den „Sturm“ eröffnende Intro. Denn bereits mit ihrem Intro, ObsYdian, stellen Soulbound klar, wo das gleichbetitelte Album hinführen wird.
Bleibt zum Schluss nur noch zu sagen, Liebe Leser, Freunde und Fans, kauft dieses starke Werk und kommt zahlreich zu ersten nun anstehenden Solo Tour von Soulbound. Überzeugt euch selbst von der Qualität dieser Formation, wenn nicht längst geschehen, und lasst euch in ihren Bann ziehen. Wie auch wir bereits in ihren Bann gezogen wurden.

One of the bands we've watched and supported the most in recent years is back after four years without an album. But four years without an album doesn't mean a standstill, especially when it comes to Soulbound. Quite the opposite. After their successful album, Addicted to Hell, in 2020, Soulbound presented themselves to the public and their fans as often as they could and were allowed to as support for a wide variety of bands. They celebrated success in front of Lord oft he Lost or Hell Boulevard, among others. They released four hard-hitting pre-release singles and delighted their “hungry” fans as well as the music world and the press. But honestly, who is surprised that this thoroughly likeable formation, led by frontman Johannes “Johnny” Stecker, is on such a successful course? At least not us. Especially since Friday, the release day of the new album, ObsYdian, the guys have been thanking their fans and listeners in every possible way, as the last four years have not only been exhausting and often energy-sapping, but have also been very difficult at times. Somehow, however, giving up was never a real option and so ObsYdian has finally been on the shelves since Friday and nothing stands in the way of the band's climb to the top of the ladder of success.
But let's quickly move on to the album itself, which Soulbound, who were founded in 2009, have now released.
From the very first release, Soulbound have stood for uncompromising industrial rock, characterized by a mixture of dark sounds, electronically supported and characterized by razor-sharp riffs and driving rhythms. The whole thing is rounded off by the vocals of their frontman Jonny, who sometimes goes to work with a lot of feeling, sometimes with damned hardness. The versatility of this band is probably exactly what makes them special. Oh, I can already hear the envious and haters saying that there are already other contenders in this style and they've been in the business longer. Quite possibly, but they won't be called Soulbound.
With ObsYdian, Soulbound not only present their fourth studio album, but also probably the hardest piece of work in their history. A total of eleven songs, which cut through your ears like a percussion drill and simply invite you to celebrate the album and each of its songs with their rousing rhythm. Hardness is at the forefront here. This applies to the seven “crushers” on the album as well as to the two ballads, an orchestral version and the intro that opens the “storm”. With their intro, ObsYdian, Soulbound already make it clear where the album of the same title will lead.
In conclusion, dear readers, friends and fans, buy this powerful work and come in large numbers to Soulbound's first upcoming solo tour. Convince yourselves of the quality of this formation, if you haven't already done so, and let yourselves be captivated. Just as we have already fallen under their spell.
