Bombus… Die Band wurde im Jahre 2008 von dem Schlagzeuger Frederik „Fefe“ Berglund und dem Gitarristen Mattias „Matte“ Säker gegründet. Ein Jahr später komplettierten der Bassist Ulf Lundén und der Schlagzeuger Peter Asp (ex-Mary Beats Jane) die Band, während Frederik Berglund an die Gitarre wechselte. Ebenfalls im Jahre 2009 veröffentlichte die Band über das von Frederik Berglund gegründete Plattenlabel Mourningwood Recordings zwei 7"-Singles, bevor im Jahre 2010 das selbst betitelte Debütalbum folgte. 2011 veröffentlichte die Band die Single A Safe Passage / Cult Leader und trat auf dem Siesta!-Festival auf. Ein Jahr später verließ der Bassist Ulf Lundén die Band. Er blieb mit Bombus allerdings weiterhin verbunden, in dem er die Albencover entwirft. Sein Nachfolger wurde Jonas Rydberg, der wiederum 2015 von Ola Henriksson ersetzt wurde.
Bombus steht für geradlinigen und durch Bands wie, W.A.S.P., Motörhead oder Metallica, beeinflussten harten Rock und Heavy Metal. Dies zeigte die Formation nun bereits auf vier Studioalben, die in den Jahren 2010 – 2019 veröffentlicht wurden und unter Fans und Hören ihren eigenen Stellenwert erreichten.
Man erspielte sich auch Live einen Ruf, unter anderem im Vorprogramm von Bands wie Monster Magnet, Witchcraft oder Clutch. Auch auf angesagten Festivals wie dem, Rock am Ring, dem Download-Festival oder dem Tuska Open Air Metal Festival oder auch dem Nova Rock, dem Summer Breeze, dem Copenhell, dem FortaRock Festival und den Metal Hammer Awards sowie dem With Full Force konnte man sich erfolgreich präsentieren. So wuchs die Fangemeinde immer weiter an.
Nun holen die Schweden im Jahr 2024 zum nächsten Schlag aus. Das gerade erschienene fünfte Album, Your Blood, vereint den altbekannten rohen Sound der Band mit neuen Einflüssen, bestehend aus klassischem Rock und gar melodischen Klängen. Der Fan, muss sich aber keine Sorgen machen, den Bombus klingen auch 2024 noch nach Bombus, haben aber mit dem aktuellen Material einen großen Schritt Richtung Weiterentwicklung gewagt, der ihrem Sound eher sogar sehr gut tut und weitere Türen im Metal Business öffnen wird.
Die zehn aktuellen Songs, die im Übrigen in Eigenproduktion entstanden, klingen frisch und machen richtig viel Spaß. Man darf gespannt sein, wo die Reise der Schweden von nun an hinführt.

Bombus... The band was founded in 2008 by drummer Frederik “Fefe” Berglund and guitarist Mattias “Matte” Säker. A year later, bassist Ulf Lundén and drummer Peter Asp (ex-Mary Beats Jane) completed the band, while Frederik Berglund switched to guitar.[1] Also in 2009, the band released two 7” singles via the record label Mourningwood Recordings, founded by Frederik Berglund, before the self-titled debut album followed in 2010.[2] In 2011, the band released the single A Safe Passage / Cult Leader and performed at the Siesta! festival. A year later, bassist Ulf Lundén left the band. However, he remained associated with Bombus by designing the album covers. His successor was Jonas Rydberg, who in turn was replaced by Ola Henriksson in 2015.
Bombus stands for straightforward hard rock and heavy metal influenced by bands such as W.A.S.P., Motörhead and Metallica. The band has already demonstrated this on four studio albums, which were released between 2010 and 2019 and have achieved their own status among fans and listeners.
They have also earned a reputation live, supporting bands such as Monster Magnet, Witchcraft and Clutch. They have also successfully performed at popular festivals such as Rock am Ring, Download Festival, Tuska Open Air Metal Festival, Nova Rock, Summer Breeze, Copenhell, FortaRock Festival, Metal Hammer Awards and With Full Force. The fan base continued to grow.
Now, in 2024, the Swedes are ready to strike again. The recently released fifth album, Your Blood, combines the band's well-known raw sound with new influences, consisting of classic rock and even melodic sounds. Fans need not worry, however, as Bombus still sound like Bombus in 2024, but have taken a big step towards further development with their latest material, which is actually very good for their sound and will open more doors in the metal business.
The ten current songs, which were produced in-house, sound fresh and are a lot of fun. It will be interesting to see where the Swedes' journey will take them from now on.
