AIRFORCE – Acts of Madness

Musikalisch sowie Stimmlich, erinnern mich Airforce immer sehr stark an Iron Maiden. Ich denke dies war auch einer der Gründe, dass Mr. Steve Harris, selbige Formation 2022 mit als Support auf Tour nahm, als er mit seinem Solo Project, British Lion, unter anderem auch unsere Stadt beehrte. Übrigens meine erste persönliche Livebegegnung mit beiden Bands.
Gegründet wurde Airforce, eine UK Metalband, des klassischen NWOBHM, bereits in den späten 1980’ern. Ganz genau im Jahr 1987. In dieser ersten Form existierte die Band bis in das Jahr 2001, als man sich auflöste. Erst im Jahr 2008 gründete man sich komplett neu. Ohne großartige musikalische Veränderung beschritt man nun also den neuen Weg.
2016 erschien das Album, Judgement Day gefolgt von, bis zum Jahr 2019 neben einer Veröffentlichungen auf einem Compilations-Alben im Jahr 2015, zwei EP’s und eine Single. Erst 2020 erschien mit, Strike Hard das nächste Studioalbum. Wieder erschienen lediglich, 2021 ein Live Album und drei weitere Singles.
Nun im Jahr 2025 legen Airforce nach und servieren mit Acts of Madness, ihr neustes Studiowerk. Auch hier bleibt man sich treu und serviert dem gewillten Hörer besten, klassischen Hard Rock und Heavy Metal der guten alten Zeit und des New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Elf Songs, die das Herz eines jeden Fans dieser Musik um einiges höher schlagen lassen werden.
Es ist schon faszinierend wie eine Band, die in ihrem Ursprung eine der wichtigsten Rollen in der Hard Rock und Heavy Metal Szene und der Entstehung sowie dem Fortbestand der NWOBHM Welle ihren Weg ebnete und noch nebenbei viele junge, damals aufstrebende Bands, überleben konnte, ohne je auch nur, besonders in den Gründungstagen ein einziges Album zu veröffentlichen. Wer weiß, vielleicht war es aber genau dieser Spirit, ihrer Liveaktivitäten, der sie hundertfach überall auf der Welt auftreten ließ und dazu führte, dass besonders die Iron Maiden Fan Gemeinschaft voll hinter ihnen steht, der ihr Überleben bis heute sicherte.
Wie auch immer, mit ihrem aktuellen Album, Acts of Madness, untermauern Airforce erneut ihre Bandgeschichte und steigen weiter auf, auf dem Weg zum Britishen Metal Olymp. Wer kann es ihnen auch verdenken, bei einer solchen Geschichte. Da darf man nur noch hoffen, das hier noch viel mehr Material folgt, und uns die Herren noch einige Zeit erhalten bleiben und die Fahne des Metal noch lange im Wind wehen lassen.

Musically and vocally, Airforce always remind me a lot of Iron Maiden. I think this was also one of the reasons why Mr. Steve Harris took the same band on tour as support in 2022, when he also graced our city with his solo project, British Lion. Incidentally, this was my first personal live encounter with both bands.
Airforce, a UK metal band of classic NWOBHM, was founded in the late 1980s. The band existed in this first form until 2001, when they disbanded. It was not until 2008 that the band was completely re-formed. Without any major musical changes, they now embarked on a new path.
The album Judgement Day was released in 2016, followed by two EPs and a single until 2019, in addition to a release on a compilation album in 2015. The next studio album, Strike Hard, was not released until 2020. Again, only a live album and three more singles were released in 2021.
Now in 2025, Airforce are following up with their latest studio album, Acts of Madness. Here, too, they remain true to themselves and serve the willing listener the best classic hard rock and heavy metal of the good old days and the new wave of British heavy metal. Eleven songs that will make the heart of every fan of this music beat a lot faster.
It's fascinating how a band that in its origins played one of the most important roles in the hard rock and heavy metal scene and paved the way for the emergence and continued existence of the NWOBHM wave and, incidentally, survived many young, up-and-coming bands at the time without ever releasing a single album, especially in the early days. But who knows, maybe it was exactly this spirit, their live activities, which made them perform hundreds of times all over the world and led to the Iron Maiden fan community being fully behind them, which ensured their survival until today.
However, with their latest album, Acts of Madness, Airforce once again underpin their band history and continue their ascent to the British metal Olympus. With a history like that, who can blame them? One can only hope that much more material will follow, and that the gentlemen will stay with us for some time and keep the flag of metal waving in the wind for a long time to come.
