Manchmal ist es ein glücklicher Zustand, sich in Europa aufzuhalten. Die Veröffentlichung der ersten Midnight Vice EP ist so ein glücklicher Zustand. Den hier erschien das gute Stück bereits am vergangenen Freitag. Das Heimatland der vier Herren, die USA muss noch bis zum vierten April ausharren. So haben wir aber bereits das Glück die sieben Track EP der Metaler aus Tempa Florida zu genießen. Und genießen kann man das Teil tatsächlich. Midnight Vice sind eine eingefleischte NWOBHM Abkömmling Band der zweiten Generation, wenn man so will. Beeinflusst von Bands wie Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Savatage, Megadeth oder Motorhead, hat man sich auf die Fahne geschrieben dem guten alten Sound des NWOBHM zu huldigen und genau diese Art von harten Klängen zu spielen. Dies gelingt dem Neuling gleich mal auf Anhieb so gut, das wir hier kaum aus dem Feiern der Songs rauskommen. Ein Brecher jagt hier den anderen. Treibende Rhythmen, messerscharfe Gitarren und eine einschneidende Stimme präsentieren die ersten eigenständigen Songs der Band. Wobei hier der Song White Witch die große Ausnahme macht. So wollen die Amerikaner mit dieser Coverversion ihrer großen Vorbilder von Savatage Tribut zollen wollen. Und dies vollziehen sie tatsächlich in einer ausgezeichneten Manie. Also wenn das, hier erst den kleine feine Anfang darstellen soll, dann dürfte es in den nächsten Jahren unter Garantie noch einiges von den Herren zu hören geben. Hier sollte man Augen und Ohren offen halten. Wir sind gespannt.

Sometimes it is a happy state to be in Europe. The release of the first Midnight Vice EP is such a happy state of affairs. The good piece was already released here last Friday. The home country of the four gentlemen, the USA, still has to wait until the fourth of April. But we're already lucky enough to be able to enjoy the seven track EP from the Tempa Florida metallers. And you really can enjoy it. Midnight Vice are a die-hard NWOBHM offspring band of the second generation, if you will. Influenced by bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Savatage, Megadeth or Motorhead, they have made it their mission to pay homage to the good old sound of NWOBHM and to play exactly this kind of hard sounds. The newcomer succeeds so well right from the start that we can hardly stop celebrating the songs. One crusher chases the other. Driving rhythms, razor-sharp guitars and an incisive voice present the band's first independent songs. The song White Witch is the big exception here. The Americans want to pay tribute to their great role models Savatage with this cover version. And they actually do this in excellent style. So if this is just the small, fine beginning, then there is guaranteed to be a lot more to hear from these gentlemen in the coming years. Keep your eyes and ears open. We are curious.
