Die Neue Deutsche Härte, kurz NDH genannt, ist längst keine Randerscheinung der Schwarzen Szene mehr und hat sich bereits Millionenfach bewehrt und Verkauft. Allen natürlich voran, Bands wie Oomph!, Rammstein, Eisbrecher und Co. Das es hier aber auch noch die etwas Anderen gibt, das beweisen seit 2017 die aus Mannheim stammenden vier Herren unter dem Namen Erzengel. Bereits ihr im Gründungsjahr 2017 konnte der Vierer nämlich mit seinem Debüt, Schattenspiele, und dem zwei Jahre später erschienenen Werk, Erzwerk, zwei klare Ausrufezeichen setzen. So bewies man kurzer Hand, dass es durchaus auch zu diesem, doch bereits späten Zeitpunkt, als die NDH längst seinen angestammten Platz in der Musik eingenommen hatte, das man auch als Neuling durchaus noch Akzente setzen kann. Aber was ist nun eigentlich bei Erzengel anders, als bei all den Anderen? Nun, zum einen vermischen Erzengel, den urtypischen Sound der NDH, der stark in Richtung Industrial mit elektronischen Einflüssen geht, gekonnt mit harten Metal Feeling. Dazu kommt ein eben nicht unbedingt Szene Konformer Gesang und ein selbst erdachtes Bühnenoutfit, eben als Erzengel.
Das die Herren es nun wirklich ernst meinten und meinen, kann man schon allein hieran messen, das es nach bereits erwähnten zwei Studiowerken, mittlerweile mit, Kommunikation, und dem 2023 erschienenen aktuellen Album, Schwarz, bereits vier Studioalben am Start hat. Live sind die Herren ebenso aktiv wie im Studio, was dazu führte, das man sich mittlerweile über eine stets wachsende Fangemeinde freuen darf.
Anfang des Jahres 2025 erschien die erste neue Single mit Namen Einsamer Engel. Gerade eben kam nun mit Teufelskreis das nächste Lebenszeichen der Mannheimer. Teufelskreis stellt einmal mehr klar, wo die Reise des Engels hingehen soll. Auf der erschienenen Single enthalten sind ebenfalls die Songs, Mein Ego und Feuertod, vom 2023er Album Schwarz. Dies wollen wir zum Anlass nehmen etwas näher auf das noch immer aktuell letzte Studioalbum, Schwarz, einzugehen.
Schwarz kommt wie gewohnt in bester NDH Manie daher und vereint abermals harte Industrial Klänge mit bedrohlichen Metal Riffs und einem eben für Erzengel typischen Gesang. So enthält das neue Werk zehn neue Nummern, die sowohl Härte, aber auch Gefühl aufkommen lassen. Inhaltlich beschreitet das Album hierbei eher einen Egotrip, so wie man ihn in der heutigen Zeit immer mehr zu Gesicht bekommt. Unsere Gesellschaft entfernt sich immer weiter vom Miteinander hin zum Ich. Dabei bemerken die Wenigsten allerdings, dass wir nur gemeinsam stark sind und irgendwann wieder einmal auf die Anderen angewiesen sind. Und eines Tages werden wir alle Engel sein.
Fazit an dieser Stelle, die neue Single genau wie das aktuelle Studiowerk machen Spaß und regen hier und da zum Nachdenken an. Man darf gespannt sein wie es mit Erzengel weiter gehen wird. Kommt da vielleicht schon bald ein neues Studiowerk?

Neue Deutsche Härte, or NDH for short, is no longer a fringe phenomenon in the black scene and has already proven itself and sold millions of copies. First and foremost, of course, bands like Oomph!, Rammstein, Eisbrecher and co. But the four gentlemen from Mannheim have been proving that there are others out there under the name Erzengel since 2017. In 2017, the year they were founded, the four-piece were able to make two clear statements with their debut, Schattenspiele, and Erzwerk, which was released two years later. They quickly proved that even at this late stage, when NDH had long since taken its rightful place in music, it was still possible for newcomers to make their mark. But what is actually different about Erzengel compared to all the others? Well, for one thing, Erzengel skillfully mix the typical NDH sound, which tends towards industrial with electronic influences, with a hard metal feeling. On top of that, their vocals don't necessarily conform to the scene and they have a stage outfit of their own devising, as Erzengel.
The fact that the gentlemen really mean it and mean it seriously can be measured by the fact that, after the two studio albums already mentioned, they now have four studio albums to their name with Kommunikation and the current album, Schwarz, released in 2023. The guys are just as active live as they are in the studio, which has led to a constantly growing fan base.
The first new single called Einsamer Engel was released at the beginning of 2025. The next sign of life from the Mannheim band has just been released with Teufelskreis. Teufelskreis makes it clear once again where the angel's journey is headed. The released single also contains the songs Mein Ego and Feuertod from the 2023 album Schwarz. Let's take this as an opportunity to take a closer look at the latest studio album, Schwarz.
As usual, Schwarz comes in the best NDH style and once again combines hard industrial sounds with menacing metal riffs and vocals typical of Erzengel. The new album contains ten new songs that are both hard and emotional. In terms of content, the album is more of an ego trip, as we are seeing more and more of these days. Our society is moving further and further away from togetherness towards the ego. However, very few people realize that we are only strong together and that at some point we will once again be dependent on others. And one day we will all be angels.
To sum up at this point, the new single and the current studio album are both fun and thought-provoking. It will be interesting to see what happens next with Erzengel. Will there perhaps be a new studio album soon?
