AMBUSH – Evil in All Dimensions

Die Kollegen der Musikpresse vergleichen den Style der schwedischen Metal Band, Ambush, sehr gern mit Szenegrößen, wie Helloween, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Udo Dirkschneider oder auch Hammerfall. Hm, ganz ehrlich, dem können wir eigentlich nur zustimmen. Klingt Frontman, Oskar Jacobsson, doch tatsächlich schon ein Bisschen wie der gute Michi Kiske. Auch das gerade erschienene neue Studioalbum, übrigens das vierte der Band, glänzt mit Anleihen der erwähnten Kollegen der Szene. Macht aber gar nichts. Ganz im Gegenteil machen Ambush gerade deshalb mal richtig Spaß. Sie frönen halt dem klassischen Style des Heavy Metal, und das ist auch gut so. Somit kann der werte Fan schon einmal darauf einstellen, das er auch mit dem neuen Langeisen das bekommt was er von Ambush erwartet. Neun klassische Killer Songs servieren die Schweden. Und dies, eben grandios im Style von Helloween „Evil in All Dimensions“, Iron Maiden „Maskirovka“ oder Iron Sing, Judas Priest „Bending the Steel“ oder eben Dirkschneider „The Reaper“. Das man dann aber auch etwas gefühlvoller kann, das beweisen der Song, „I Fear the Blood“ der dann wieder etwas von den Hamburger Kürbisköpfen hat. Alles in allem ist, Evil in all Dimensions“ aber ein feines Stück klassischer Heavy Metal, welches echt Spaß macht. Nicht viel Neues und doch irgendwie anders. Was will der Metal Fan mehr. Von uns gibt es die Kaufempfehlung und den Tipp, das „The Night I Took Your Life“ durchaus aus der Feder eines Biff Byford stammen könnte…

Our colleagues in the music press love to compare the style of Swedish metal band Ambush with big names in the scene such as Helloween, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Udo Dirkschneider, and Hammerfall. Hmm, to be honest, we can only agree. Frontman Oskar Jacobsson actually sounds a bit like the great Michi Kiske. The band's newly released studio album, their fourth, also shines with influences from the aforementioned colleagues in the scene. But that doesn't matter at all. On the contrary, that's exactly why Ambush are so much fun. They indulge in the classic style of heavy metal, and that's a good thing. So fans can rest assured that the new album will deliver what they expect from Ambush. The Swedes serve up nine classic killer songs. And these are magnificent in the style of Helloween's “Evil in All Dimensions,” Iron Maiden's ‘Maskirovka’ or Iron Sing, Judas Priest's “Bending the Steel” or Dirkschneider's “The Reaper.” But they can also be a little more soulful, as proven by the song “I Fear the Blood,” which has a bit of the Hamburg pumpkin heads in it. All in all, “Evil in All Dimensions” is a fine piece of classic heavy metal that is really fun. Not much new, yet somehow different. What more could a metal fan want? We recommend buying it and would like to point out that “The Night I Took Your Life” could well have been penned by Biff Byford...
