MANSIONS IN THE SEA – Gloom Folklore

Wer Sascha Blach kennt, der weiß das der Herr verdammt beschäftigt, und dabei noch verdammt fleißig ist. Neben beruflichen Pflichten nimmt er die position des Sängers und Frontmans der Dunkel Gothic/Metaler von Eden weint im Grab ein. Doch damit nicht genug. Er schuff ganz nebenbei noch sein Soloprojekt, Mansions in the Sea, mit dem er ein Debüt Album (Terra) und im weiteren Verlauf die Veröffentlichung von gleich vierzehn Singles, die als stream erschienen, zelebrierte. Genau diese Singles, plus zwei weiteren Songs wurden nun als komplettes Album unter dem Namen, „Gloom Folklore“, veröffentlicht. Und genau so, wie man es vom Projekt gewohnt ist, erscheint nun auch das Album in düster, lyrischer Tiefe, die den Hörer in eine ländliche Welt aus Träumen, philosophischen Höhenflügen und persönliche Abgründe entführt.
Sechzehn Songs, die man am besten in Stille und Ruhe genießt. Ein gutes Getränk und der freie Abend/Nacht Himmel sorgen hierbei für die perfekte Untermalung.
Ein Album welches Indie-Folk mit klassischen Singer-Songwriter-Elementen sowie dunklen Einflüssen des Southern Gothic verbindet.
Sascha übernahm auch auf den Singles, beziehungsweise bei der Produktion des Albums erneut alle Instrumentierungen, den Gesang bis hin zu Mixing, Mastering, Artwork und den Videos. Wie gesagt ein vielbeschäftigter Herr, der sein Handwerk versteht.

Anyone who knows Sascha Blach knows that the man is damn busy—and damn hardworking to boot. Alongside his professional duties, he holds the position of vocalist and frontman for the dark Gothic/Metal band Eden weint im Grab. But that’s not all. Almost as an afterthought, he also created his solo project, Mansions in the Sea—a venture with which he celebrated the release of a debut album (*Terra*) and, subsequently, no fewer than fourteen singles released via streaming platforms. Now, these very singles—plus two additional tracks—have been released as a complete album titled *Gloom Folklore*. And true to form for this project, the album emerges as a dark, lyrically profound work that transports the listener into a rural world of dreams, philosophical flights of fancy, and personal abysses.
Sixteen songs best enjoyed in peace and quiet. A good drink and the open evening or night sky provide the perfect backdrop.
It is an album that blends Indie-Folk with classic singer-songwriter elements and the dark influences of Southern Gothic.
As he did with the singles—and indeed throughout the production of the album—Sascha once again handled every aspect himself: from instrumentation and vocals to mixing, mastering, artwork, and even the accompanying videos. As mentioned, he is a very busy man who truly knows his craft.
