Es gibt Bands und Musiker die muss man weder Vorstellen noch muss man viel über sie erzählen. Selbige gehören einfach seit eh und je in das Musik-Business wie Hefe und Weizen ins Bier. Eine dieser Bands, die sich gerade im sechsten Jahrzehnt ihrer Karriere befindet, ist und war Deep Purple. Deep Purple durchlebt und fasziniert den Rock’n Roll Zirkus seit 1969 und hat in dieser schier unfassbar langen Zeit, alles erlebt, was man als Musiker und Band erleben kann. Höhepunkte genau wie Tiefstände. Erfolge, Misserfolge. Abstiege und Höhenflüge und doch immer unbesiegbar und nicht zu „töten“. Selbst diverse Bandmemberwechsel konnten dieser Ikone des Rock und Hardrock, die diese Musik und Szene maßgeblich mit geformt hat nie Stoppen. Nun steht das mittlerweile vierundzwanzigste Studioalbum in den Regalen der großen und kleinen Plattenläden und wartet auf euren Kauf um gebührend gefeiert zu werden.
Der Titel des 24. Studioalbums steht für das Geräusch, das ein Insekt erzeugt, wenn es mit hoher Geschwindigkeit gegen eine Windschutzscheibe prallt. Für das Tier ist das ein Ende – doch Sänger Ian Gillan sieht darin auch einen Übergang in einen neuen Bewusstseinszustand. Solche skurril-humorvollen Gedanken zu Vergänglichkeit, Identität und Transformation ziehen sich durch das gesamte Album »SPLAT!«.
