Zugegen, ich komme noch aus der guten alten Zeit des Hard Rock und Heavy Metal. Sprich aus den eigentlichen Anfängen und somit war es mir vergönnt die Siebziger, aber hauptsächlich eben die Achtziger voll erleben zu dürfen. Bin ich jetzt deshalb alt? Nun das muss jeder für sich selbst entscheiden und jeder ist so alt wie er sich fühlt. Worauf ich aber hinauswill, ist etwas ganz anderes. Ja ich habe die guten alten Zeiten miterlebt. Aber eines habe ich seiner Zeit von meinem alten Herrn, Papa, gelernt. Es gibt verdammt viel Musik und noch meher unterschiedliche Arten und Stile und jeder muss für sich selbst entscheiden was er, sie, es mag und was nicht. Der eine liebt halt Schlage, der andere Hip-Hop oder Rap, wieder andere lieben Pop und was weiß ich noch alles. Ich stehe halt auf die lauten Klänge, des Rock, Metal aber genauso die Klänge der kompletten schwarzen Szene, über Gothic, Neue Deutsche Härte, EBM, Electro, Wave und weiß ich nicht, was es da alles gibt. Aber auch ich muss mich anpassen und mit der Zeit gehen. So komme ich auch am Modern Metal nicht vorbei. Und mir ist egal was andere darüber denken oder sagen. Besonders die ewig alten, Leute die Zeit steht nie still und alles ändert sich, auch wenn die Klassiker immer erhalten, bleiben werden, was auch verdammt noch mal gut so ist.
Womit ich beim eigentlichen Thema bin. All for Metal, eine Band die 2022 von Asenblut’s Tetzel und Antonio Calanna gegründet wurde und mit ihrem ersten Album mal gleich für Aufsehen sorgten, mussten bereits zwei Umbesetzungen hinnehmen. So verließ Jasmin 2025 ihren Posten an der Gitarre und der gute Antonio stellte den Mikroständer erst Anfang des Jahres in die Ecke.
Jetzt meldet sich Antonio Calanna zurück. Und das verdammt noch mal eindrucksvoll mit seinem neuen Projekt, namens, A Cold Paradise. Und somit landen wir beim Modern Metal. Die alten Hasen, oh ich höre sie schon schimpfen, werden sagen, das hat nichts mehr mit Metal zu tun. Und ich sage euch, doch hat es. Die zwölf Songs des Albums rocken und gehen verdammt noch mal mächtig nach vorn. Die Riffs und Solis sind Rasiermesserscharf und Antonios Gesang bringt das Album in die Richtige Richtung. Dem einen oder anderen wird es hier und da wohl zu viel elektronische Unterstützung geben, aber hey, wir leben nun mal in der Zeit der Elektronik, mit Computern und KI.
Was zählt ist doch das es rockt und zum Headbangen einlädt. Und genau das tut das Debüt verdammt noch mal. Hier stimmt die Härte und passt auch die etwas gefühlvolleren Momente bestens an. Mir jedenfalls gefällt die Mischung aus Harten Riffs und modernen Klängen, weshalb ich mal die volle Punktzahl vergebe.

Admittedly, I come from the good old days of hard rock and heavy metal—the actual early days—so I had the privilege of fully experiencing the seventies and, more importantly, the eighties. Does that make me old? Well, everyone has to decide that for themselves; after all, you’re only as old as you feel. But that’s not really the point I’m trying to make. Yes, I lived through those good old days. But there’s one thing I learned back then from my old man: there is a hell of a lot of music out there—and even more genres and styles—and everyone has to decide for themselves what they like and what they don’t. Some people love Schlager, others love hip-hop or rap, while others are into pop and who knows what else. Personally, I’m into the loud sounds of rock and metal, but just as much into the sounds of the entire "dark scene"—Gothic, Neue Deutsche Härte, EBM, Electro, Wave, and whatever else falls under that umbrella. Still, I have to adapt and move with the times. That means I can’t ignore modern metal. And I don’t care what anyone else thinks or says about it. Especially the old guard—look, time never stands still and everything changes, even though the classics will always endure (which is a damn good thing).
Which brings me to the actual topic at hand. All for Metal—a band founded in 2022 by Tetzel (from Asenblut) and Antonio Calanna that made an immediate splash with their debut album—has already had to deal with two lineup changes. Jasmin left her guitar post in 2025, and good old Antonio put his mic stand away early this year.
Now, Antonio Calanna is back. And he’s back in impressive fashion with his new project, A Cold Paradise. Which brings us right back to modern metal. The old-school purists—I can hear them grumbling already—will say this has nothing to do with metal anymore. And let me tell you, it certainly does. The album’s twelve tracks rock hard and—damn it—really drive forward with serious momentum. The riffs and solos are razor-sharp, and Antonio’s vocals steer the album in the right direction. Some listeners might find the electronic elements a bit excessive here and there, but hey—we are living in the age of electronics, computers, and AI, after all.
What really matters is that it rocks and makes you want to headbang. And that is exactly what this debut does—damn it. The heaviness is spot-on, and the more emotive moments fit in perfectly, too. Personally, I love the blend of heavy riffs and modern sounds, which is why I’m giving it a perfect score.
